The core of installing construction joint rubber waterstop is to fix it firmly, accurately position it, and seal the joint. Mainly divided into these steps:
Preliminary preparation
First, set out and position according to the design drawings to ensure that the centerline of the waterstop is aligned with the construction joint, with an error controlled within 5mm. Clean the concrete surface to ensure smoothness and dryness.
Fixed waterstop
Use steel reinforcement clamps or steel mesh to fix the waterstop in the construction joint, with a spacing of no more than 40cm, to avoid twisting and deformation. Note that the deformation hole of the waterstop (if any) should face the upstream surface.
Handling connectors
The joint adopts hot melt welding or special adhesive, with a lap length of not less than 10cm, and undergoes air tightness testing. The corners need to be cut at a 45°angle and sealed with adhesive.
Pouring concrete
First pour the lower part of the waterstop concrete, compact it by vibration, and then pour the upper part. During vibration, the distance between the vibrating rod and the waterstop should be greater than 15cm to prevent compression and displacement.
Finished product protection
Cover and protect in a timely manner after pouring to avoid exposure to sunlight or mechanical damage. During the maintenance period, conduct daily inspections and promptly repair any curled edges or cracks found.
