The National Convention Center project, comprising Phase I and Phase II, is located within the Beijing Olympic Center Area and serves as a core facility for the capital’s international exchange hub function.
Phase I was completed in 2008 with a total floor area of 530,000 square meters. It includes 270,000 square meters of conference and exhibition space, complemented by supporting hotels and office buildings. Having served the Beijing Olympic Games, it now stands as a leading exhibition and convention complex in Asia.
This project is a key facility for enhancing Beijing’s role as an international exchange center and supporting its development into an international consumption-focused city. It can host events ranging from 30 to 20,000 attendees for conferences and over 50,000 for exhibitions. Meeting both China’s Three-Star Green Building Design evaluation standard and LEED Platinum certification, it is recognized as a “model project” or “masterpiece” of capital construction in the new era.
Hebei Guchen Engineering Rubber Co., Ltd., together with the design institute, project owner, supervision company, and general contractor, held a technical exchange meeting on spherical bearings at the project site. The meeting featured in-depth discussions on various construction details, including analysis of both positive and negative case studies from past projects, followed by a site visit. After the meeting, the chairperson compiled a list of potential construction issues identified during discussions into meeting minutes, which were distributed to all relevant responsible units. This proactive measure aims to prevent potential problems during future construction phases.
